Study of the sculpture "Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss". This one took a while because for a few weeks I did not know how to move forward from my initial mockup. The main reason was the fact that there was one light source in the image I was referencing - the sun - while in this image, the galaxies are also light sources. In the end, I decided the light could be fudged a little because the galaxies are symbolic.
Other notes:
- for the colors, I made "cupid's galaxy" a warmer and rosier tint to reference the revival. "Psyche" is grayer until you reach the chest and arms, which are lit by the other's light.
- the loops and curves around them mimic the drapes, which I did not want to literally include, and just felt right to do.
- I kept the wings because the way the sun hits them in real life is too amazing not to study.
